Optimistic Runners SS26: From Berlin to the Heart of Jakarta

Started in Berlin, now running in Indonesia, the Optimistic Runners SS26 collection has officially touched down, and we knew we had to welcome it the only way we know how: together. We could not think of any other club who can lead the social run to welcome Optimistic Runners SS26 in Indonesia other than Running Rage.

For over a decade, Running Rage has been a foundational pillar of the running community in Jakarta. Founded around 2010 by Adystra Bimo as a South Jakarta-based urban run crew, the club initially started as a platform for creatives to meet, bond, and connect through morning miles. Over the years, they have grown into one of the most respected and influential running groups in the city by seamlessly blending running with lifestyle, inclusivity, and urban outdoor culture. Their high-energy ethos and deep roots made them the absolute perfect partners to introduce this global collection to our local streets.

This launch event also beautifully aligned with the KITathletic monthly shop run. We host this monthly run with a simple goal: to create a highly inclusive event where people from different backgrounds and various run clubs can gather, chat, and truly get to know each other. It is in these shared miles that true synergy is found, because we firmly believe that winning for one runner is a win for everyone. Again, the positivity that radiates from this community is highly infectious.

To truly introduce our global friends to Indonesian running culture, we have to talk about the elements. Let's be honest, running in Jakarta is a unique beast. The thick, heavy morning humidity hits you the moment you step outside, and navigating the tropical urban roads is never an easy feat. However, tackling those tough conditions with a massive, supportive group is an absolute game-changer.

For this launch, we mapped out a solid 8 KM social run through the heart of the city. To keep the pace comfortable and enjoyable for everyone, we divided the pack into two groups but designated our first major pit stop at the bridge so we could all gather again. It was so incredibly good to see everyone come together at that bridge, catching their breath and cheering each other on. The positive energy produced from that run is surely infectious, proving that the group dynamic makes the tropical heat entirely manageable.

Once the miles were all finished, everyone was welcomed back with ice-cold drinks provided by our good friends at Monkey Head,  to bring those core temperatures down. To properly refuel, we served a special refreshment spread of the Indonesian favorite "jajanan pasar" , traditional market snacks that are beloved across the country because they offer nostalgic, immediate comfort and the perfect carbohydrate restoration after a heavy, sweaty effort.

  • Kue Pepe: A meticulously steamed layered cake that is soft, chewy, and delicately aromatic, deriving its clean, sweet flavor and green hue entirely from fresh pandan and suji leaves with no artificial coloring.

  • Chicken Risol: A classic golden, crispy hand-rolled crepe filled with a savory and creamy chicken and vegetable ragout.

It was an unforgettable morning bridging global aesthetics with local grit. Our wish is that everyone had fun and had an absolute blast of a day sharing the road.

See you on the next run.
