When we first sat down with Mel, the founder of Anya Active, we asked ourselves a question that guides every piece of our curation at kitathletic: How does this brand move the community forward? Since opening our running shop, Jakarta has become a hub for niche cultures and technical excellence, which means we don't just add brands to our list, we add stories. Speaking with Mel, it became clear that Anya’s vision wasn’t just about apparel. It was about a deep, intentional focus on the female athlete. While many brands go wide, Anya goes deep, focusing exclusively on women’s collections and believing that movement is the ultimate pathway to finding your true values.
Anya running isn't just about the miles. It’s about the courage to show up for something you once thought wasn't for us, keeping consistent and trying your best whether you are moving fast or slow, in public or in private. This philosophy birthed the "Run Proud Session," an avenue created to be a safe home for girls to attempt what once seemed impossible, finding pride in how you move and who you are while doing it.
When we announced the first Anya Run Proud session, we were thrilled by the response. With almost 300+ girls registered, we knew we needed a space that felt like a sanctuary to host the pack. Silk Pakubuwono in Jakarta Selatan immediately came to mind, and we are so grateful to the team there for stepping up to the challenge of hosting a group of this magnitude. On the morning of May 10th, 2026, which beautifully coincided with Mother’s Day, over 200 girls turned up to share the road from every level of experience. Some who had only ever run 3 KM were chatting alongside seasoned marathoners, creating a sight unlike anything else as the group streamed through the Jakarta Selatan traffic, reclaiming the streets with an energy that was insanely electrifying.
This felt like the girls run club Jakarta had been waiting for, a no-judgment avenue where we truly believe every winning for a runner is a winning for the whole pack. The sense of fulfillment and clear-mindedness that followed the run is a result almost no other sport can provide. In honor of the day, every girl was welcomed back with flowers, and we provided a photobooth and "moment cards" for everyone to share notes of empowerment with one another, fostering a genuine "girls support girls" atmosphere.
After capturing memories and meeting new friends, the girls refueled with refreshing matcha from Kumo House, a business run by fellow female runners who truly understand the spirit of the girls running community. To see hundreds of women moving through the city with such purpose and joy was a reminder of why we do this. The energy was so powerful that many have already asked for Vol 2, so, shall we?
Anya Active is now available at Kitathletic . We are so excited to present Anya Active in Indonesia for their running collections and to see how they will impact the world of women's movement. Run Proud, Anya Girl. We'll see you at the next one.
